The WCES safety patrol’s community service project will be benefitting The Labor of Love Animal Rescue. The Labor of Love Animal Rescue is an all-volunteer organization working to rescue stray cats and dogs and find them forever homes. Their goal is to stop euthanasia as a population control. They also educate the public on the importance of spay/neuter and regular vet checkups for pets. Currently, they are in desperate need of cat food for the upcoming kitten season.

Beginning March 4th, any student that brings in 10 cans of cat food for the animal rescue will earn a safety patrol mini-badge. Since most cans of food average about $1, each $1 will also count as a can. Your parents or guardians may also hold a cat food drive at their place of work. The class with the highest average number of cat food cans/$ amount will win 5 additional days of P.E. for the week. They can vote for gymnastics, capture the donuts, or any other P.E. activity. Any student that brings in 300 cans or more of cat food will automatically be able to attend the WATER SLIDE PATROL CELEBRATION & COOKOUT at the end of the year. All cans/$’s will need to be brought in by Friday, March 15th by noon. Please download our student tally form and attach it to your cans of cat food. Checks can be made payable to: Labor of Love Animal Rescue.
